Chapter 5: Germs!!! And Ghosts and Stuff!!!!!

This week we hit our 1 month mark in the mission! Looking back the time here in the CCM has flown by, and I can´t wait to get out into the field! I´ll be leaving the CCM early next Tuesdaymorning, and I have no idea when I´ll be writing home next so.... gnarly

It´s been a really fun week and we´ve been working hard, playing hard, and estabamos haciendo muchas bromas as a district. We've got a list of ongoing jokes that we´re planning on compiling later today.

Here´s a fun story:
What do you get when you lock up 150 spiritually-sensitive, yet still immature 18-20 year old elders and hermanas for 6 weeks? Rumors of the CCM being haunted at night. That's right, one night here an hermana claimed that in the middle of the night, their door was opened and they saw a figure standing in the doorway. Then some other missionaries started discussing the possibility of the CCM being haunted, and of course other ghost stories started to arise and be shared amongst the missionaries. On Sunday, the rumors were put to rest. The words of the mission president: 'This is the 3rd holiest building in Guatemala, behind the two temples. Do you think any of the temples are haunted? Neither is the CCM.'
So that's a relief

Other news:
What do you get when you lock up 150 missionaries who regularly interact with each other in a small gated community and introduce a gnarly virus to the population? That's right: a Plague. Several missionaries have fallen ill, yet my companion and I are yet to be afflicted. Hopefully, if I contract it, I contract it soon so that I don´t take it with me into the field. However, I think we're being chastised because oh SO MANY of the new missionaries AREN'T WASHING THEIR HANDS AND ITS DISGUSTING. Anyway, couldn't be more grateful for the dozens of hand sanitizer dispensers around this place.

Also, the book Our Heritage is a real good read, I'd highly recommend. I love this Church and the message of the Restoration. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, and I know he truly saw God and Jesus Christ and was called to be the prophet of the final dispensation. The Church is true!
