Chapter 50: Truckload of Investigators

Roberto's baptism! Roberto and I wore Harry Potter ties to celebrate. It has been a week. I've already used the "best of times, worst of times" title once, but it this week is also deserving of it. Jumped out of a bus: On Monday, we were waiting for a bus, it came by, lots of people got off, many got on, and my comp and I were the last two to try to get on. I get on first, and as soon as I step foot on the bus it starts taking off  fast . My companion hadn't gotten on yet, and I was only just hanging on. Inside, someone fell over and pushed me, so it was either jump off or fall out. So I jumped. Landed on my feet, fell over on my left arm, sprained the wrist and slid on my back a few feet. Luckily I was wearing a backpack that took most of the blow, so I'm just fine apart from the wrist. So that was fun. Some not-so-great contacts: -Sober man yelling at us when we say "buenas tardes" to him. We just ignored him but he k...

Chapter 49: 365 Days Left

Me and Hermano Mauricio, my favorite taxi driver in Tegucigalpa Photos of the gorgeous views from my area. We're on top of a mountain, which makes for some cool pics, but a lot of uphill walking. I'm not baggy (trunky) I promise We've had a good week! We've been doing lots of visits with the bishop or other ward leaders and it's really cool how the members here are really motivated and willing to help us out in the work! This week we're preparing a joven named Roberto for baptism. He's 16 years old and a crazy kid. He loves the Gospel! The other day when we stopped by to visit him, Roberto was there with a less active young man, helping him do the homework from seminary because the less active had missed a lot of classes! I never thought I'd see an investigator of mine tutor a member on the Doctrine and Covenants. It was awesome! In 365 days, I'll be done with my mission! It's crazy how quickly time is flying. I re...

Chapter 48: Manantial

Image
Photos with members of my old ward Jardines de Toncontín Huge raincoats my new bishop lent us when we were completely unprepared for the rain Hey guys! It's been one awesome week! I got transferred! Bye Bye Office: So transfers were Tuesday, but I stayed in my old area a few days extra to teach the new secretary how to be a secretary, so I didn't get to my new area until Thursday night. Manantial: My new area is called Manantial (which means spring, like a spring of water) and it's gorgeous! The area is huge and actually comprised of several different neighborhoods (barrios), and we live in an area called la Cruz Roja, because the Red Cross built many houses here to relocate people affected by Hurricane Mitch. Cruz Roja (and Altos de Santa Rosa - another subdivision of our area) are built on top of mountains just outside the city. When from our house, we can see the city on one side, and a ton of rolling green mountains on the other....
