Chapter 50: Truckload of Investigators
Roberto's baptism! Roberto and I wore Harry Potter ties to celebrate.
Jumped out of a bus:
On Monday, we were waiting for a bus, it came by, lots of people got off, many got on, and my comp and I were the last two to try to get on. I get on first, and as soon as I step foot on the bus it starts taking off fast. My companion hadn't gotten on yet, and I was only just hanging on. Inside, someone fell over and pushed me, so it was either jump off or fall out. So I jumped. Landed on my feet, fell over on my left arm, sprained the wrist and slid on my back a few feet. Luckily I was wearing a backpack that took most of the blow, so I'm just fine apart from the wrist.
So that was fun.
Some not-so-great contacts:
-Sober man yelling at us when we say "buenas tardes" to him. We just ignored him but he kept shouting until we rounded the corner and he couldn't see us anymore
-Drunk man yelling at us about how the Word of Wisdom is false doctrine because he drinks and is still a good person
Some not-so-great lessons:
-Woman won't stop interrupting our lesson to shout praises to Jesus
-A grown woman treats the Book of Mormon like a little kid treats vegetables "I don't like this book so I shouldn't have to read it!"
Some great results!
-The whole ward was working hard to inviting lots of inactive people and non-members to church for the ward conference we had. 17 investigators showed up!
-After lots of prayer, fasting, and overcoming last-minute obstacles, Roberto got baptized!!
A truckload of investigators:
As we were waiting for the bus to pick us up to take us to church yesterday, we see our Bishop drive down the street in his truck. The bed was FULL of a family of investigators we've been teaching!! I'm so glad to be in a ward where the members work hard and where the Bishop helps us out soo much!
Anyway it's been a week for the books. Lots of downs, some really high ups.
The Church is true, and I love the mission.
Love you all!
Elder Jensen
