Chapter 9: Esperanza, Tegucigalpa, Esperanza, Marcala, Esperanza
This is a picture of my district
Connor wanted to see pictures of my apartment. Well here they are!!
We've been working hard and diligently to help out this little branch. On Tuesday during companionship study, we had the front door open to let some air in. Then all of the sudden, in the middle of our study, our mission president walks in with a few assistants! It's crazy because the mission office is straight up 4 hours away! But he had been travelling to several areas just to check up on the missionaries and to see if he could help them in any way. So that was pretty gnarly.
Then on Friday we had a multizone conference in Tegucigalpa so Elder Martinez and I woke up at 3am to get on a bus and drive the 4 hours to get to the meeting on time. The conference was awesome and we learned a lot. Some missionaries got wrecked by the president but here's a pro tip: If you're being obedient, you can't get wrecked for disobedience.
For example: about 2 months ago (back in my MTC days) Presidente Mejía asked all the missionaries to memorize D&C 121:34-46 (which is suuuper long). So when I got out to the field, my merciful companion let me know that we were expected to have it memorized by this zone conference because Pres. Mejía would be calling on missionaries to recite it. It's a good thing I have a lot of experience memorizing lots of lines really quickly because Pres. Mejía called on me to recite the scripture in the meeting in front of half the missionaries in the mission. Then, after I recited it, he told everyone else that they don´t have any excuses, because I've only had 3 weeks to memorize a scripture they've been assigned to memorize for 2 months. That was gnarly.
Anyway, after the multizone, we then travelled all the way back to La Esperanza just in time to brush our teeth and get in bed on time. It was great.
Then on Saturday we travelled out to Marcala, which is an area in our district about an hour away, to do a baptismal interview (because Elder Martinez is the DL). Then travelled another hour back to our area to actually get to work. So yea, that's a bit of the life out in the middle of nowhere.
We've been working hard and teaching a lot. I know that the Spirit guides our work and has been leading us to specific people. Hopefully we'll have our first baptism out here soon.
Love you all!
Elder Jensen
